TOPIC SUMMARY

Dr. Edie's courage to persevere and heal her trauma parallels the need for all of us to persevere and heal our emotional wounds.

With the massive political divide we suffer from, the burgeoning extremism flirts with history repeating itself.

We must not forget the lesson we have learned.

Dr. Edie has lived her story over and over again and rekindles the conviction that we are all able to forgive through our trauma. The significance of a 94 year old woman, with a history of unspeakable traumas, leading with joy and forgiveness is an astounding affirmation of life that will inspire us all. If she can forgive, then we can too.

Her message helps us to understand that:

- Thriving survivors don’t ask “Why me?” they ask “now what?"

- No one rejects you but you.

- The key to opening your own mental prison is in your pocket.

- Freedom lies in accepting our whole imperfect self, and giving up the need for perfection.

- If you have something to prove, you are still a prisoner.

- We aren’t born with fear. Somewhere along the way, we learn it.

- To stop bigotry, you start with yourself. You let go of judgment and choose compassion.

- We can’t change what happened. We can learn to cherish the wound.

- We must evolve not revolve.

- Love and fear can not coexist.

- There is no forgiveness without rage.

- There is no greater revenge than a life well lived.

- Your hell on Earth is your best classroom.

- You can’t heal what you don’t feel.

- A feeling is just a feeling, it’s not an identity.

- Change is about interrupting the habits and patterns that no longer serve us.

JEWISH PERSPECTIVE

Our film is rooted in the tenacity and ever-present joy prevalent in the Jewish heritage. From the violin, a musical symbol of our culture, to the music of Auschwitz underscoring Dr Edie’s fierce crusade of forgiveness and empowerment, this film’s message is one for ALL people’s survival.

The multi-generational trauma affects Jewish families is real. Dr. Edie addresses this in her work, and this film will create an opportunity for families to approach the topic of healing together.

Our hope is that our film will illuminate globally the undeniable history of the atrocities Nazi regime, by celebrating a life well-lived, and inspiring healthy discourse through conversations, celebration, dance and music, and the shared experience that great cinema can provide.
